Just a Phone Call Away

This is a painting of the phone lines out in the western part of the Antelope Valley in the Mojave Desert. You can be sure that this is what you’ll see until housing developments start going up.

Windmill

Tehachapi

Tehachapi

Tehachapi windmills have always been a staple part of the Tehachapi mountains above the Mojave Desert. I’ve always wanted to paint them so this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Sunday Morn'

Sunday Morn’

This particular painting has an interesting story. It is a painting of a church in Nebraska that really has no trees around it so I decided to add my back yard tree to the painting to help enhance it. I was half way done when my two year old decided to sneak in to my art studio and do a little painting of her own……all over it! No, I didn’t kill her, after all she thought she was helping Daddy. After a couple of months of teetering on whether to throw it out or not, I decided to fix it and it turned out better than I could have imagined.

Spring Blossom

Spring Blossom

This is a painting of a tree in my front yard. It blossoms every year with bright pink blossoms for about two weeks before the wind blows them all away. You can find these particular trees all over Nebraska.

San Diego Mission

San Diego Mission

This is my first black and white painting I ever did. It was actually a lot harder to paint then I originally thought because I had to individually mix each shade of grey just to get the right shade. This painting sits in my uncle’s house in San Diego.

Port Hueneme

Port Hueneme

I made this painting from a photo I took around Christmas at Port Hueneme beach in Southern California. This beach is the beach where I grew up surfing, body boarding, and swimming on. It was a dangerous beach because of the swells and the ferocious rip tides that occur; yet, it’s still a beautiful beach.

Pirates Cove

Pirates’ Cove

This was a painting I have been drawing for years while scribbling around in class or something. I finally got the chance to put it down on canvas with color and make my Pirates’ Cove a reality. It sits above the fireplace in front of my brother and sister in laws’ house in California City California.

Lightening Crashes

Lightning Crashes

This started off as an experimental painting because I always wanted to paint lightning at night during a storm. This particular painting is outside a ranch in the Mojave Desert. It has turned out to be a crowd favorite and I will have to do more in the future.

Light House Lane

Lighthouse Lane

This is a painting of my first light house. Although it doesn’t exist, other than my own imagination, I would love to see a cobblestone lighthouse on the seashore like this.

Koehler Bridge

Koehler Bridge

This is a painting I made for my friend back home. He wanted a covered bridge so I made it and the name of the bridge is his last name. Many people think it looks like the Madison County covered bridge. I’ve never even been there.

Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree

This was my first painting on my own. It was on the way back to my house in the Mojave Desert when I looked back and saw this sunset. I just had to put it down on canvas so I went home and painted it that night. It is also the painting for Nature Back Home logo.

Christmas in the Rockies

Christmas in the Rockies
This is a painting of a cabin in the Rockies that I could only wish I owned. Up close you can see the Christmas lights hanging on the roof.

This was another sunset right after a summer thunder storm in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

Autumn Even'n

Autumn Even’n

This was a painting of a dried up pond in the Wild Animal Park in Nebraska.
I wanted to use vibrant fall colors so I just added water.
